Barbed wire is a very old but widely used fencing material. It’s first invented in United States of America. Throughout the years, barbed wire is still an extremely important fencing material in the world.
Types of barbed wire
There are a few types of barbed wire out there, if you want to know. These different types can be mainly divided into three categories. The first type will be conventional barbed wire. And the other two are reverse twist barbed wire and barbed wire entanglement.
Conventional barbed wire and reverse twist barbed wire are really similar and these two types of barbed wire have a difference of how the barbs are formed. For the first type of barbed wire which is conventional barbed wire, the barbs are formed by twisting the barb wire clock wise. While the other one is formed by twisting the barb wire in two opposite directions.
The third type of barbed wire is the most odd one. It’s called barbed wire entanglement. This type of barbed wire is more like concertina razor wire which has a form like a concertina the instrument.
Now you already know all about the different types of barbed wire. But how can you decide which one to use? It’s actually very easy. If you want to use the barbed wire as a fencing material and make a fence, then the first two will be fine. They are conventional barbed wire and reverse twist barbed wire. But if in the case of which you want to use the barbed wire atop whatever fence you already have, and you want the top fencing to be the shape of concertina, then the last one barbed wire entanglement would be the way to go.
