Continue our discriminant analysis for different metal surface finishing part 2.

Last time we talked about the first three method of metal surface finishing part 2. Then we will talk about the last two method, pre hot dipped galvanized and hot dipped galvanized treatment.

Pre hot dipped galvanized: Also departed to two style, usual zinc coating mass (40-60g) and high zinc coating mass (200-300g). Different zinc coating mass will have much influence on the unit price of the fence. But the effect is also obvious. Fence with usual zinc coating mass will only have a usage about 1-2 years. Be like the electric galvanized treatment, it’s also easy to be rusted. What’s more, for usual zinc coating mass fence, we purchase the raw material already have the surface treatment which means we do not have to treat the fence with pre hot dipped galvanized treatment.

Hot dipped galvanized: The best metal surface finishing part 2 in our industry. This surface treatment will give the product a zinc coating mass high to 505g/m2 which will give the product a usage like more than 10 years. Zinc is a good material to prevent the product from rust and keep them into smooth and shinning. If you want the fence with a higher usage life, and do not have any other color on them, you can choose the hot dipped galvanized treatment for the fence.

After knowing the difference with the different metal surface finishing part 2, i think you must have a decision for what kind of the finishing you need to choose.

Difference in Metal surface finishing

In fence producing step, there’s usually a surface treatment after the product is accomplished to increase the service life of the metal fence.

If you are choosing a metal fence, there’s about five types of the metal surface finishing method for you to choose: electric galvanized, electric galvanized + polyester powder coated, electric galvanized + PVC coated, pre hot dipped galvanized, hot dipped galvanized. Different surface treatment may give the product different appearance and will have effect on the usage of the product.

To let you have a better understand on the metal surface finishing. I’d like to show you the difference of the different metal surface finishing.

Electric galvanized: Also called cold galvanized, is the surface treatment we do not use alone very usual. It will give the product a zinc coating mass for about 8-12g/m2, a rather low zinc coating mass, which may cause the product rusted easily.

Electric galvanized + polyester powder coated: This is the metal surface finishing you may find very often. As we have listed before, the electric galvanized may give the product a rather lower zinc coating mass. But with the polyester powder coated, about 0.15mm thickness plastic layer, the coating performance may much increased. And, with this metal surface finishing, the product may also be given a colorful performance, which may impressed you.

Electric galvanized + PVC coated: Different with the polyester powder coated surface finishing, this treating method will give the fence a rather thicker plastic layer, about 0.8-1.2mm. What’s more it will ignore the question polyester powder coated product caused, it can be rolled well, while the polyester powder coated fence do not suit to roll, that may cause the plastic layer ruptures.

Fence Surface Treatment

Metal fence is a kind of security using in outdoor, so the fence surface treatment will influence the lift time a lot. In traditionally, there are several basic types of fence surface treatment in the global market. If we sort them out by lift time long to low, there are hot dipped galvanized after production, galvanized + polyester powder coated, galvanized + PVC coated, galfan material, pre – hot dipped galvanized and electric galvanized.

For hot dipped galvanized fence surface treatment, we need to produce the fence before surface treatment. For example, need to weld the fence panel first, then do the zinc dipping process. Normally the zinc coating mass could reach minimum 500g/m2, much higher than normal galvanized.

Regarding the galvanized + polyester powder coated surface treatment, we need to use an normal galvanized to be an pre – treatment to increase the adherence of the polyester powder, then spray the polyester powder on the galvanized material and heat it. Its life time will be also comparing longer than other finishing, and also the color of polyester powder has a lot of choice.

Galvanized + PVC coated’s life time is shorter than above two surface treatment even the thickness of PVC layer is much thicker than polyester powder coated layer, but the adherence is lower. The air and rain water is easy to get into the space between zinc layer and PVC layer to make it rusty.

Galfan material is a kind of zinc alloy surface treatment which is mix the Zn & Al together with a percentage of 95% & 5%, this is better than pre – hot dipped galvanized surface treatment and it’s the best choice for pre – surface treatment.

Another two fence surface treatment is pre – hot dipped galvanized and electric galvanized. Normally the pre – hot dipped galvanized zinc coating mass can reach in the range of 40 ~ 300g/m2, but electric galvanized can only be 8 ~ 12g/m2.
